The Marca in Spain is reporting today (Wednesday) that Valencia’s Juan Mata is on the verge of joining Arsenal after the London club made a €20million bid for the player. It is understood that that fee was the buy out clause in the Spanish winger contract but Valencia may be ready to sell for €15million.
It is also being said that two other Premier League clubs have put in bids or are expected to bid for Mata. Tottenham is one of them and my guess is that Liverpool is the other. Both these clubs are not in the Champions League so that should pave the way for Mata to join Arsenal.
This is some much welcomed good news for us at Arsenal as we needed to make a marquee signing this summer to show the footballing world that we still mean business!

People keep saying that Wenger needs to buy a defender whereas I can see the problem is mainly not in Central defense,but Defensive Midfield position. So, We need a DM not necessarily a CD. Brazil were able to win the 2002 World cup with Gilverto Silva as the linchpin between the defense and attack. So, if we can get another DM,I believe some of the lapses would be curbed.

Denilson has left,Eboue to follow,JET has left,Almunia and Bendtner to go as well which is about 5 players and only Carl Jenkinson and Gervinho arriving so far.
