The Mirror is reporting that Arsenal are ready to hijack Chelsea’s attempt to sign Anderlecht striker, Roman Lukaku, who is just 18-years-old. The striker is valued at around £17.5million and it is understood that Chelsea are on the verge of signing him but Arsenal could come in with a late bid to tempt Lukaku to join us.

It makes more sense for Lukaku to join Arsenal than Chelsea as he would not get much game time at Chelsea. He would be behind Drogba, Torres and Anelka in the striker pecking order.

Do you think that Arsenal should spend so much money on an 18-year-old striker? I can not see Wenger spending so much money on a single player but times are changing now and it is gamble signings like this that we have to make if we are to compete with the other top clubs whom are spending millions this summer.

Up Gunners! Go ahead wenger, this season is our hope.

  2. Ruemu okpe says:

Yes! LKK IS WELCOME IF WENGER GO FOR HIM, BUT I BLIV ALL THIS IS FLATTRING. MOST IMPORTANT THING WE NEED IS ONE DEFENDER AND ONE MIDFEILDER. PLS MR. WENGER SPEND MONEY AND STOP PRICING. I BLIV THIS MONEY IS NOT YOURS, SO SPEND IT AND SEE THE RESULT OF WHAT YOU SPEND ON. UP GUNNERS TILL FENT!

  3. Mark says:

This will not happen because Arsene won’t spend that amount of money on any player, and if we get into a bidding war with Chelsea there is only 1 winner.

  4. Kole says:

Lukaku will be great for arsenal but i have my fear that wenger the stingy manager will find it hard to sign him with that amount, finger cross

  5. TrueWisdom says:

Well Romelu Lukaku has scored 31 goals in 71 appearances and at such a young age he’d really be worth it. As fans we always hate on Wenger for buying youngsters but I have a really good feeling about Lukaku

  6. adamp1878 says:

I don’t think it is essential since Arsenal already have Gervinho now but he could be worth the risk. You never know with expensive youngsters. He could turn out to be like Drogba or he could be the next Florent Sinama Pongolle. http://thetransfermarket.blogspot.com/2011/07/romelu-lukaku-new-drogba-or-next-sinama.html

  7. Daniel yakubu says:

Arsenal should try 2 have endurance so that they can be able 2 stand fit in d english premier leauge so that they can carry the league

  8. DEO says:

Arsenal needs a power-striker to cause problems for opponents. Sign him and Arsenal would score more goals and concede less

  9. Pronen says:

Wenger have said a lot about getting new players and the only new guy is Gervinho. Is he going to do it alone? Wenger should know that we don’t have a wining team for now.We GARY CAHIL(£17m) or PER MERTASAKER (£12m)as Centerback defenders, ALY CISSOKHO (£9m)as left back defender,BASTIAN SHWASTERGAR(£23m) or SCOTT PARKER (£10m) as defensive midfielder,JUAN MATA(£20) and SANTI CAZORLA (£20)as midfielders,ROMELU LUKAKU(£18) as a striker. Wenger should sell NASRI (£25m)and FABREGAS (£40m),get some more money and get these guys now and fast. Thanks and God bless mr wenger.Arsenal 4 life.

  10. Femi says:

  12. Charles says:

  13. Eddy says:

  14. xx says:

What is this “highjack” nonsense always being leaked by the board and manager at Arsenal. Why can the club not identify their transfer targets during the season and decisively go after them like all the big clubs do. What is this half hearted attempt to sign players that are already committed to join other clubs. Is it to get credit for having tried and losing to the finacial muscle of better run clubs? We are not buying this nonsense anymore. We are done with excuses, go out and buy the two defenders, holding midfielder, playmaker (to replace Cesc and Nasri) and the quality striker.

  15. Harry says:

dis is just one of the arsenal season film we have been watching. We all know it wont work since dat huge amount of money is involved. Wat we need right now is a defender
