Do Arsenal really need to sign this winger?

|

Arsenal have been constantly linked with a move for Southampton’s teenage sensation Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The winger had an exclusive interview with The Mirror and he said that he is ready to move to the Premier League now after having a successful season with the Saints.

Alex said, “I just feel that I am ready to play in the Premier League. I think I can take a lot of encouragement and confidence from what Theo – and Gareth Bale at Spurs – have done.

“When you look at a player like Jack Wilshere at Arsenal, he was only a year above me in the academies.

“He played in a tournament that I was in as a youngster and even then you could see he was going to be unbelievable.

“The same as Gareth and Theo, and with the other players my age that have made the step up, like Wayne Rooney and Phil Jones. There’s no barrier on the age you have to be to play in the Premier League. If you’re good enough, you’re old enough. Hopefully I’ll get the opportunity to prove that.”

The winger may feel he is ready for the Premier League but at Arsenal ready for him? We already have Walcott so why do we need another player identical to him? There is no doubt that he is one of the finest young talents in the country but have we not got enough young talents already at Arsenal?

I believe it is time we stop for a second and start to buy some ready made players. Alex has not even kicked a ball in the Premier League; we could go and spend millions signing him but then he does not make it. What is your take on this?

I say lets get em… this guy is gonna be even bigger than walcott! he already has few things more than theo (technique, body balance, shooting).. plus theo’s improvement has been really disappointment! compare that to 10 goals and 15 assists for a 17 years old alex and ull know what I am talking about..

  • Jalal says:

Yes let him be a gooner, he can be helfable in the team

  • jackson lubago says:

I think arsenal should buy that player maybe he can pose great challenge to theo, because theo’s performance has dropped recently.

  • TrueWisdom says:

No we shouldn’t be nurturing young talents. Getting some trophies and winning the hearts of the fans should be Arsenal’s top priority. We need players that are good NOW, not players like Fabregas who become good and then want to leave.

  • Donnie says:

theo’s performance has dropped recently. ????

dont you mean theos performaces have been getting better and better.

he would be good on the right second choice beehind theo.

but we have to sell eboue
we need 2 sell players befor we being them in not becouse of the money

no point having a 4th choise player getting paid 50k a week and not playing.

He’s not going to be as good as either Rosicky or Nasri. I think if we bought him, it would be as a striker and stand in Winger. We know how Wenger likes to start off strikers on the wing. We have plenty of money to buy him. We’ve spent a total of 4 Million so far and only have Jenkinson and Gervinho – Clichy going the other way and paying for 7 million of the 11 million spent so far. If Cesc goes, I can see Ribery coming in and a Centre-half as promised.

Truewisdom, players who are good NOW usually turn bad when they move. Torres was good and he did really well after moving for big money. We can’t have a new player misfiring for half a season or more and still win the league.

  • Robert says:

Come guys thats just another bentley.I think we need experienced players not boys. He is even over valued £10 m 4 a boy thats ridiculous.

  • Bufty says:

He’s a good player no doubt.Bt i dont think AW is ready 2 spend big on a player dat wud stil be sitting on d bench

  • Peter jorams says:

Yes we r the moulders let him come

  • Alex says:

With nasri clowning around and both Arshavin & Rosicky approaching the wrong side of 30, i say we bring this kid in because he is gonna be a hell of a player.

  • William says:

Another winger wouldn’t hurt and for how talented he is be can use him.

  • joe says:

i think we should buy him to chalenge walcot because he did not meet my expectation

  • Donnyfan1 says:

He has played wide and, although very quick, his dad says he will become an excellent CM. His dad was an Eng. Int. so he should know.

  • Mike says:

My problem with this player is that he is way too expensive for a 17 year old. Max, 5 million, No more

  • ngo22 says:

his dad isnt going to say that hes shit is he?

  • hal says:

I think we need him as a winger to challenge Walcott etc. personally i think that only nasri and Walcott are any good as wide players for us so we need help there. Get rid of rosicky and Eboue promote Lansbury and get in Mata and this kid, He will be a very good player and i know this isn’t the most important part, as his ability is all that matters and on that alone we should get him, but he is English and likes the club which is an added bonus.

  • Akin says:

Yes let the boy be a gunner
