The headline for the post could have meant a lot worse. It could have been Samir Nasri being at Manchester United today to undergo a medical before signing for them. But it is the other French international, Gael Clichy who looks set to finally complete his move from Arsenal to Manchester sit as he arrived at the club today (Monday) to undergo a medical.
Clichy is reported to be headed to Manchester City for £7million after he refused to commit his future to Arsenal by signing a new contract. This is going to be our first big departure of the summer and I hope it does not have a domino effect and Nasri and Fabregas leave.
It is a pity that Clichy has decided to leave Arsenal as he was a good player. We now have to go into the market and sign a new left-back as I do not think Gibbs is ready just as yet to be our first choice. I would love it for Arsenal to now go and sign Baines from Everton.
Clichy has to be careful if his move to Manchester City does go ahead as he may not be guaranteed first team football. Clichy could find himself behind Aleksandar Kolarov in the left-back pecking order at City.
