Arsenal to sign two players this week

Whilst all the focus right now on Arsenal is about Fabregas and Nasri leaving, we tend to forget that life must go on and we need to sign some players. Coming into the Arsenal door this week should be two new signings, Gervinho from Lille and Gary Cahill from Bolton.

According to the Mirror, Gervinho is flying into Arsenal today (Wednesday) for talks with Arsenal ahead of a potential £12million move.

Whilst Cahill has a £17million release clause in his contract which Arsenal look set to activate with a cash plus player deal. Cahill has one year left on his contract and wants to join Arsenal above interest from Tottenham and Liverpool.

If Arsenal are to make these two signings this week, it would be a major boost for the club and the fans who have been calling out for some signings this summer. Wenger has made it clear to us that he is not going to go crazy and splash the cash this summer unless he sees value in the deals he is doing.

Gervinho is set to come in and either partner Van Persie upfront (when he is fit) and that means we may now be looking at playing with a 4-4-2 formation next season. Gervinho is also versatile enough to play in a 4-3-3 formation where he can either lead the line or play wide of the right or left. It is this versatility that makes Gervinho a great signing.

We all know we had problems defensively last season and Wenger has seen that thus the need to go out and get another central defender to play alongside Vermaelen. Cahill would be the perfect choice as he has Premiership experience.

I hope these two signings do go through!
