Wenger is planning to unveil multiple marquee signings on July 1

|

With so many Arsenal fans disillusioned at their club’s lack of transfer activity, there is a strong feeling that Arsene Wenger is planning to surprise them by unveiling multiple marquee signings on July 1 when the transfer window opens.

Arsenal’s rivals have been busy in the market, Kenny Daglish’s big money acquisition of Sunderland midfield prodigy Jordan Henderson and Manchester United’s signing of Phil Jones and Ashley Young is being seen as a strong statement of intent. Chelsea, on the other hand have already signed a new manager and are lining up the signatures of Romelu Lukaku, Luka Modric and Hulk. One look across North London and you get a different story. The cheque books are gathering as much dust as the trophy cabinets at the Emirates. Wenger and CEO Ivan Gazidis promised a busy summer for Arsenal fans but this remains to be seen as the only signing by Arsenal is that of 19 year old Carl Jeknison.

This has done little to please Arsenal fans who have been craving for experienced signings. The Gunners have been linked with so many players, by the media atleast, including Chris Samba, Gary Cahill, Karim Benzema, Gervinho, Eden Hazard, Radamel Falcao, Willian, Ricky Alvarez and a host of other stars but no move has been completed yet. And Arsenal fans have given up of seeing a different summer from the past ones. But a closer look will tell you there is every reason left for hope.

Reports are emerging that Arsenal have already tied down deals for Alvarez, Gervinho, Oxlade Chamberlain and are closing on Samba. This coupled with the fact that Wenger has never promised a busy summer before, and the fact that the debts on the stadium construction have been cleared and the impending departure of the world’s most confident man Nicklas Bendtner and Brazil’s most decorated midfielder Denilson, both of whom were down of the fans’ favorite list, gives a glimmer of hope to gunners all over. And it looks like Wenger is preparing to give the Gunners a sweet surprise by unveiling atleast three of the above linked players and a bigger surprise by presenting a star player people didn’t expect when the transfer window opens. Keep the faith ye Gunners, the night always gives way to light!
