Who would you rather Arsenal sign, Joey Barton or Scott Parker?

Arsenal have been linked with signing Joey Barton and Scott Parker this summer so we can add some steal and experience to our central midfield. Both these players are very experienced and would add something to our squad. Each one has their own pros and cons.

Looking at Barton, he is renowned as a bad boy of English football, on and off the field but of late he has let his football do the talking and has put in a decent shift for Newcastle. Barton may just be sold by Newcastle as they look to cash in on him before his contract expires. With Barton being valued at £1.5million that would be a cheap and viable deal for Arsenal.

Whereas Parker is at relegated West Ham and he has to leave the club and return to the Premier League. Parker is now part of the England setup which just goes to show how good a season he had. He can not only pass and read the game well but he is fierce in the tackle.

Ray Parlour spoke about these two players and the possibility of them joining Arsenal and said,

‘They do need strength in the midfield but I’d go for Scotty Parker.’
‘Scotty has proved that he can do it internationally and I think he’d fit in very easily and it would be a great move as well.’
‘He’s got all you need from a midfield player. He breaks things up, he’s a good tackler, he drives things on as he has done for West Ham. He’s been a one-man-team for West Ham this season so I would pick him.’

‘Joey Barton has knuckled down a bit better but he’s been playing on the right-hand side for Newcastle but for me the way Arsenal play I think Parker would fit in perfectly in that holding role in front of the back four. He’s not going to get up and down like he used to but he’s got the experience now and he’s been at some big clubs.’
