Arsenal’s £17million central defender option

Arsene Wenger has made it clear that he is after tall players this summer and we need a seasoned central defender to add to our squad as we were shocking from defending set-pieces last season. We have been heavily linked with Samba from Blackburn who would not be a bad signing at all in my opinion. But there is another central defender who I feel is better than Samba who Arsenal are after but is he worth it for £17million?

I am talking about Bolton’s Gary Cahill. Bolton are reported to want close to £17million for him but we all know Arsene, will he spend such a premium on a player? Cahill is only rated at that price because he is English and has Premier League experience. But looking at what is going on in the market, Manchester United are about to spend £16million on Phil Jones, although that deal seems to have reached a sticky point as Blackburn and United are yet to agree on a fee. But that just goes to show how much players are being sold for these days.

Wenger has no choice but to splash the cash if he wants to get quality. Do you think Cahill would be a good signing at £17million?
