Arsenal have a ‘new’ striker

Arsenal are in the market for a new striker this summer to help Van Persie out and following Bendtner saying he is leaving Arsenal. Many names have been linked with Arsenal so far this summer to come in as a striker such as Benzema and Bojan, both players I would love to see at Arsenal. But Arsene Wenger may not have to go out and sign a new striker as there is already one on our books who wants to play upfront.

They play I am talking about is Theo Walcott. Let us not forget that when Arsenal signed Walcott from Southampton in 2006, we signed him as a striker. Wenger then decided to mould him into a right winger as he had so much pace.

Speaking at the launch of the Mars Just Play, Walcott said, “I would prefer to be playing up front – I was signed as a striker.”

“Sometimes when you’re playing out wide, it’s difficult to get in the game. I think the manager wanted to develop me on the right and I think I’ve shown what I can do this season – hopefully he trusts me and I can play up front next season.

“I’ll have a chat with him when I come back and see what he’s thinking. I believe I can give something different to the team we haven’t had for a while so why not?”

Do you think Wenger should give Walcott a run as a striker?
