The England squad is full of talented players and despite missing injured Gooners Alex-Oxlaide Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere, the Three Lions managed an impressive win over France in an emotional encounter at Wembley last week.

The majority of the squad already play for one of the top six clubs – Chelsea, Man United, Man City, Spurs and Liverpool and the Gunners would have no interest or chance of signing any of those stars.

However, there are a few names in the squad that haven’t made the step up to a top level club yet that could be great signings for Arsenal as first team regulars or good squad players.

Here Jonathan Kaney takes a look at 5 England internationals Arsenal should sign.

John Stones

21-year-old John Stones is arguably the most talented defensive prospect in England right now and is widely hailed as the future of England’s defence.

The summer was dominated by Chelsea’s much-publicised chase of him and it was ultimately an embarrassment for them as Everton knocked back three bids of up to £35m. Stones wanted to leave, but with Chelsea’s nightmare form this season it’s worked out just as well.

They are unlikely to come back in for him after being made a fool of by the Everton board once before which leaves the door open for us. He may stay at the Toffees for a couple more seasons, but they won’t be able to hold on to him forever. He would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal in the future.

Ross Barkley

Another Everton star Arsenal could consider in the future is Ross Barkley. He will end up at a top-four club sooner or later and his talent and industrious performances would fit in well at the Emirates.

He’s powerful and dynamic in the centre and is far more attacking than Coquelin, with has a talent for splitting defences open with his vision or scoring a long range screamer.

Interestingly, he looked to link up extremely well with Theo Walcott in England’s victory 2-0 victory over Estonia in Euro 2016 qualifying and with our central midfield options limited at the moment, he could well end up at the Gunners in the summer.

Jamie Vardy

Could the Gunners make a move for the Premier League’s top scorer in January?

His prolific goal scoring form and fairytale story of playing non-league football to being Premier League top scorer with 12 goals in 12 games has seen him linked with the Premier League’s top clubs and even Real Madrid.

His pace, finishing ability and direct fearlessness in attacking defences has seen him become on of the most praised players in England this season, and he could do well at Arsenal.

Andy Carroll

Before you give me pelters for this one hear me out…

Arsene Wenger has been a long term admirer of Carroll, and the West Ham striker has been superb for West Ham as they have battered the top four clubs to sit only 3 points outside of the top four in the League.

Since his ridiculous £35m to Liverpool – when he became a Pariah in world football and suffered under the weight of exception – Carroll has rebuilt his Donkey reputation at West Ham and shown that he is an imposing and powerful Premier League striker who can most importantly score goals.

He’s a bully in the air and that’s something we are missing at the moment when Giroud isn’t fit or off form.

He doesn’t have the grace or skill to play the silky Arsenal way, but as a big centre forward to hold the ball up and bully defences with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez providing the crosses – he could score goals as a squad player at the Emirates.

Ryan Bertrand

Former Chelsea full-back Ryan Bertrand has made a name for himself at Southampton after being treated poorly in his time at Chelsea.

He is a squad player at best for England, but he is an experienced Premier League performer. He’s been excellent for the Saints in his time with them and his experience and ability to play at left or right back could see him be an attractive option for Arsene Wenger in the future.
