The agent of Manchester United star Anthony Martial has slammed Arsene Wenger, after the Gunners boss declared Arsenal did not need to sign the winger.

Martial joined United on Deadline Day in a £36m move from Monaco and has starred since, scoring three goals in his opening three Premier League matches; including a debut strike against arch-rivals Liverpool.

Wenger stated earlier this week that Arsenal had tracked the 19-year-old for a while but elected not to make a move, believing that they already had enough strength in wide areas with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joel Campbell.

Martial’s agent, Philippe Lamboley, slammed this claim when speaking to RMC Sport as he identified his client as a high calibre player in a central-forward role.

“Anthony is a true modern centre-forward who can change a side.”

“I am surprised by the analysis of Wenger, who has apparently been following him since he was a teenager. If Wenger made his analysis to justify not signing Anthony, then I accept his words and so he is a winger.”

“But in football, there are those who follow footballers and those who buy them.”

Arsenal will host Manchester United and Anthony Martial in the next Premier League game week after tomorrow’s visit to in-form Leicester City.
