Currently in second place in the Premier League, Arsenal are just seven points behind league leaders Chelsea. Many fans and football pundits claim that Arsenal are performing better than last season and will continue to improve. Unfortunately, statistics claim that Arsenal are indeed not performing better but the other Premier League teams are performing worse.
This season has seen many teams fluctuate between the top four and nobody other than Chelsea has remained in a consistent position. Arsenal currently sit in second place with 63 points after winning 19, losing six and drawing six. This time last year, Arsenal had the exact same record but were challenging for fourth in the league against Everton.
Arsenal added Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck last summer to improve the squad but apparently the team is doing exactly the same with these two new additions.
Arsene Wenger will be pleased with his team’s positon this season but should be wary that his team have not improved on their point total with their new additions.
