As of last night, clubs around Europe were put on alert as Sami Khedira will be available on a free transfer this upcoming summer. Arsenal should do everything they can to sign the talented German midfielder. Khedira has won the Champions League, La Liga, FIFA Club World Cup, Bundesliga, and the World Cup all by the age of 27.
Currently, Arsenal’s defensive minded midfielders are Abou Diaby, Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Francis Coquelin. Although Francis Coquelin has impressed in recent weeks, Arsenal are in need of a world-class defensive-midfielder to protect the back four. Another reason to sign Khedira would be his nationality. The Arsenal squad has four German players in Petr Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski and Serge Gnarby. The import connection would be with Ozil and Mertesacker who Khedira already has experience playing with for the German national team.
Khedira’s class, nationality, and non-existent price tag would make him a great addition to the Arsenal squad and add real steel to the midfield.
