Arsenal join race for United, Spurs target

|

Arsenal have joined the race to sign £30m-rated Portugal international Joao Moutinho, according to reports.

The Monaco midfielder has long been linked with a switch to our Premier League rivals Spurs and Manchester United, with the latter reported to have seen a big-money bid knocked back during the summer.

However, Monsieur Wenger is now keen on the 28-year-old and has earmarked him as a long-term replacement for the aging Mikel Arteta, according to The Express.

The report comes one day after we were forced to identify alternative options for Arteta, with Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira supposedly Bayern Munich-bound in the summer.

Nevertheless, The Gooner hopes that at least one of these targets comes in to replace Arteta who, let’s be honest, is too old to be running our midfield.
