How the Arsenal debutants did against Swansea

|

Per Mertesacker and Mikel Arteta made their full debuts for Arsenal on Saturday in the 1-0 win against Swansea whilst Yossi Benayoun came on off the bench in the second half. All three of Arsenal new signings did well and it will take them a bit of time to get used to each other and the style of Arsenal’s play.

“Mertesacker was calm and composed – he just needs to adapt to the pace of the game,” Wenger said after the game with Swansea. “He looks very intelligent in his positioning.?

“Arteta played very well, especially in the first half. In the second half it was more difficult for him but you can see he will give us some technical security that this team needs and wants to play like we play.?

“He [Benayoun] brought us something when he came on because he was mobile, he was dynamic and he did well.”?

Winning 1-0 may not have been what many Arsenal fans expected against Swansea but with the poor start we have had to the season, a win is a win and I will take it. I may not have been pretty or convincing but it is something for us to build upon.

What are your thoughts following the debuts of our three new signings?

Don’t understand why Arsenal bloggers use words like, debutants, starlets when refering to the new and young players. What’s wrong with finding masculine sounding words?
